What Type of Dishes can I Use in my Microwave?

What Type of Dishes can I use in my Whirlpool Microwave?

Several different types of cookware and bakeware can be used in your Whirlpool microwave. Before using any cookware or bakeware, test it in your microwave first.

To Test Cookware/Dinnerware:

  1. Place dish in microwave oven with 1 cup (250 mL) of water beside it. Program 1 minute of cook time at 100%.
  2. If the dish becomes hot and the water stays cool, do not use the dish in the microwave oven.

Specialty Microwave Cycles

Some microwave models have specialty cycles that allow different cookware or bakeware to be used. Below is a list of some of these cycles. Please refer to your Owner's Manual for specific information regarding these specialty cycles.

Convection/Combination Cycles: Metal bakeware may be used only during convection (bake) cycles. Use ovenproof, microwave-safe cookware for all other convection and combination cycles.

Convection Rack: Use the short convection rack for convection cycles (baking or roasting). Place cookware directly on the rack for bake and for some roast functions. Some roast functions require that the food be placed directly on the rack. Use a microwave-safe, ovenproof dish or pan under the rack to catch the drippings. Two-level cooking is not recommended.

Grill Cycles: Use ovenproof, microwave-safe cookware to catch drippings. Two-level cooking is not recommended.
