Cleaning the Grill/Griddle - Range

Possible Solution

Do not use nonstick cooking sprays to avoid damaging the griddle’s nonstick finish.

Griddle Cleaning Method:

Cleaning directions vary by model number; refer to the Owner's Manual for specific information.

The grill/griddle is cast iron and should be cleaned and maintained accordingly.

  • The grill/griddle is pre-seasoned and ready to use. To prolong your seasoned grill/griddle, avoid using degreasing agents like dish soap or steel wool.
  • For stuck-on food, use a mild scrubbing sponge or brush to remove & rinse with water. Dry the remaining water to reduce the chance of rusting.
  • If your seasoning coating on the grill/griddle wears off, re-season the grill/griddle as needed.

Using the Griddle

  1. Locate the grill/griddle on the left side grate. Depending on the food being cooked, the grill or griddle side can be used for cooking.
  2. Before each use, brush on a thin layer of cooking oil to keep food from sticking.
    • For cooking on the left side of the cooktop, preheat the grill/griddle for 5 minutes with each Left Rear and Left Front burner on a High or Medium-high setting. After preheating is complete, adjust the burners' heat setting as necessary depending on the food being cooked.
    • For cooking on the center of the cooktop, preheat the grill/griddle for 5-10 minutes on high. After preheating is complete, adjust the burner heat setting as necessary depending on the food being cooked. NOTE: Do not use the grill/griddle on the cooktop during or immediately after running the oven cleaning cycle.
