Popping - Gas Range
Possible Solutions
Is the burner head and burner cap positioned properly?
The burner cap must be seated on the burner base to light and perform properly. Reinstall the burner cap, making sure the alignment pins are properly aligned with it. The burner cap should fit flush with the burner base and have very little side-to-side movement.
Are any of the surface burners wet?
The burner(s) could be wet from a spillover or cleaning, which can cause a popping noise. Allow the burner(s) to dry completely and replace the burner cap. You can speed up the process by blowing cool air on the area using a hair dryer.
