Long Cycle Time - Portable Dishwasher

Possible Solutions

Is the water connected to a hot water source?

  • Ensure the dishwasher is connected to the homes hot water source. Without hot water for most cycles, a dishwasher will have long cycle times.
  • Make sure the hot water source is turned on to allow the flow of water into the machine.

Is the dishwasher running too long?

The dishwasher can run up to 31/2 hours long depending on the cycle and options selected.

  • An energy-efficient cycle and/ or options may have been selected accidentally or unintentionally without knowing. Check this if there are undesired long cycles.
  • Energy efficiency is gained by extending cycle time and reducing the amount of water used plus wattages during the dishwasher's cycle.
  • Efficient dishwashers run longer to save water and energy, just as driving a car slower saves on gas.
  • If you need your dishes done sooner, you can use the 1-hour wash cycle. Using the 1-hour wash cycle will reduce drying performance and energy efficiency.

Is the water temperature correct?

As part of normal operation:

  • The dishwasher pauses two to three times during the cycle for thermal holds (to raise the temperature) and advances once the temperature is met.
  • When certain cycles and/or options are selected, a longer cycle is normal.
  • Additional time is needed to heat the water to the proper temperature for cleaning and/or sanitizing your dishes. This may be cycle and/ or options based.
  • Suggestion: Before starting a load, run the hot water faucet on the sink nearest the dishwasher until the water is hot, then turn off the faucet and start the dishwasher.

Was the dishwasher recently serviced?

If your dishwasher was recently serviced, the service technician may have put the dishwasher into a diagnostic mode.

  • When the dishwasher has been put into diagnostic mode, a calibration cycle will be run the first time it is used, after it has been ran through diagnostics.
  • This calibration mode can cause the dishwasher to run longer than normal. This should only occur the first time the dishwasher is used after having been placed into diagnostic mode by a service technician.

If the machine is in this state do the following to exit:

  • The service diagnostics mode will timeout after 5 minutes of user inactivity. So the consumer may not notice this and proceed. If it does not timeout proceed to the next step.
  • Press the Cancel key to exit service the diagnostics mode. If this does not work, a power cycle of the dishwasher may be needed.
  • Service diagnostics mode will be canceled if the power is removed from the appliance and restored (Power cycled). Once power has been restored to the appliance it should be ready for normal operation.
