Possible Solutions

Are you using High Efficiency (HE) detergent in your washer?

Use of non-HE detergent can cause a film residue, which can result in odor or smell. Always use the detergent manufacturer's recommended amount of detergent.

Have you performed the "Clean Washer" cycle, or has the "Clean Washer" light come on (on some models)?

Some models have a "Clean Washer" cycle. See the Owner's Manual for your specific model.
Run the Clean Washer cycle every month to maintain washer freshness. This procedure helps keep odors from developing in your washer. The Clean Washer cycle, which is available on some models, uses higher water volumes in combination with affresh^® washer cleaner or liquid chlorine bleach to thoroughly clean the inside of the washer.

If your model does not have a "Clean Washer" cycle, run the machine empty (without clothing) once a month, using affresh^® washer cleaner with a Normal cycle and hot water option.

Do you remove your clothing when the wash cycle is complete?

Always remove your clothing items as soon as possible when the wash cycle is complete. Leaving wet clothing inside the wash basket can cause odors both in the clothing and in the washer.
