Lint on Clothing - Washer

Possible Solutions

Did you line dry a load of laundry?

You can expect some lint on your laundered items when line drying. The air movement and tumbling of a dryer removes lint from the laundry load.

Were you washing a large load?

Consider reducing your load size. Leave enough space in the washer to allow the laundry items to move freely. Make sure that there are not any laundry items sticking up above the stainless steel basket. A tightly packed load of laundry is more likely to trap lint.

Was tissue or paper left in pockets?

Always check all pockets and the interior of the washer before starting a new load of laundry. The lint may be caused by paper or tissues left in pockets.

Were there new clothing items in the load of laundry?

New clothes tend to create more lint in the first few washes.  Washing new clothing inside out will help reduce the amount of linting in the cycle.

Was the load properly sorted?

Separate lint-takers from lint-givers. Synthetics, knits, and corduroy fabrics will pick up lint from towels, rugs, and chenille fabrics.
