Not Turning, Tumbling or Spinning - Compact Front Load Washer

Possible Solutions

Were the transport bolts removed at installation?

The 4 transport bolts must be removed before the washer will operate effectively. See your installation instructions for more information about removing the transport bolts.

Was a delicate or hand wash cycle or the low or no spin option selected?

Spin speeds can vary by the cycle selected. Your washer is designed so that in certain cycles, such as delicate or hand wash, the spin speeds are slower. In these cycles, more water is retained in the load at the end of the cycle to keep delicate fabrics from shrinking and wrinkling.

Did you use High Efficiency (HE) detergent?

Use only HE High Efficiency detergent. Always measure detergent. If you have very soft water, you may need to use less detergent. Using non-HE detergent or more than the manufacturer's recommended amount of detergent can cause excessive suds. The excess suds can cause the washer to run at a reduced spin speed, resulting in very wet loads.

Check out HE Detergent use in a Washer for more information.

Is the load unbalanced or overloaded?

The wash load must be balanced and not tightly packed. A large, unbalanced load could result in a reduced spin speed and wet clothes at the end of the cycle.

How to level the washer:

It is important that the washer is level.  If not, the load may become unbalanced, causing the washer to not spin properly.  This can also cause the washer to have excessive noise and/or vibration, especially during the spin cycle.

Was low or no spin selected?

Cycles with lower spin speeds remove less water than cycles with high spin speeds. Use the recommended cycle/speed spin for your garment. To remove extra water in the load, select Drain & Spin. The load may need to be rearranged to allow even distribution of the load in the basket. If Low Spin or No Spin was selected, the washer may not remove enough water from the load.

Is the drain hose installed correctly?

Check the drain hose for proper installation.  Use the U-shaped drain hose form on the drain hose and securely attach to the drainpipe (standpipe) or tub.  Check that only 4.5" (113 mm) of drain hose is in the drainpipe (standpipe).  The drainpipe (standpipe) height requirements are 96" (244 cm) maximum and 39" (99 cm) minimum.  Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or clogged.
