Cycle Time is Not Advancing - Front Load Washer

Possible Solutions

Does the displayed "Estimated Time Remaining" differ from real cycle time?

The time displayed during a cycle is an estimate of the time to complete the load. This Estimated Time Remaining is based on size and type of load, cycle selection, option selection, household water temperature and pressure, and unbalanced load detection.

If the time holds constant towards the end of the cycle, this indicates the load is having a difficult time balancing, and extra time is required to balance the load for the final spin. This could occur when washing single bulky items such as rugs, bedding, etc.

Are you using a heated cycle or a Sanitize wash cycle?

If the wash cycle selected heats the water, such as the Sanitize cycle, or the Steam option, the heater in the washer will be turned on. The heating time depends on the incoming water temperatures, load size, and type. This can extend cycle time and cause the value displayed to remain constant for long periods of time.

Are excessive suds present, or did you receive an error code?

Excessive suds can cause an error code to appear; these error codes could be "Sd," "5d", or "SUD," depending on your specific model.

Use only HE High-Efficiency detergent. Using non-HE detergent or more than the manufacturer's recommended amount of soap can cause excessive suds. The excess suds can cause the washer to run a "suds lock," which means it will add more water to try to reduce the amount of suds. This will add time to the cycle.

Did you use "no splash" or "easy-pour" liquid chlorine bleach?  This type of liquid chlorine bleach contains a thickening agent that may create excess suds in washers. If this is the case, run the machine empty, using regular liquid bleach products, or clean with affresh® washer cleaner before running another load.

Is the bulk dispenser being used?

If your washing machine has a bulk dispenser feature check the following:

  • Is the bulk dispenser enabled?  If it is, there is no need to add additional detergent to the load.  Doing so could cause excessive suds.
  • What is the concentration level set to?  It is essential to understand detergent concentration, as you need to input this into the machine. If the concentration level is set correctly, it could cause additional suds.
