SUD or Sd - Front Load Washer

Possible Solutions

Sud or Sd is displayed:

There are too many suds in the washing machine. The washer cannot spin out water with the excess suds. When "Sud" or "Sd" is displayed, the washer automatically extends the rinse time to remove the excess suds. During this time, the washer pauses the tumbling and adds water for additional rinsing. This pause allows the bubbles in the suds to break. This pause and rinsing are necessary and may occur several times to eliminate the suds.

Are you using HE or High Efficiency Detergent?

HE detergents come in many different concentration levels, such as 2x, 4x, and 8x.  It is important to follow the detergent manufacturer's dosage amount based on soil level and load size. Using too much detergent can potentially lead to longer cycle times, oversudsing, poor rinsing, and poor cleaning performance.

Detergent pacs also come in different sizes; larger pre-measured ones should only be used for large or heavily soiled loads.

Whirlpool recommends using Swash® Laundry Detergent. It is designed to work in both high-efficiency (HE) and non-HE washing machines. With an 8x concentrated formula, you’ll use about a quarter of the detergent you’d need with a traditional 2x concentration detergent. It may look like a small amount, but you’ll be amazed at its effectiveness.

Did you use "no splash" or "easy pour" liquid chlorine bleach?

This type of liquid chlorine bleach contains a thickening agent that may create excess suds in washers. If this is the case, run the washer with regular liquid bleach products.

Run a clean wash cycle.

Once the cycle has been completed, running a "Clean Wash" cycle is recommended to remove excess detergent and detergent build-up.
