How to Reset a Washer

How to Reset the Controls on your Whirlpool Washer

Much like a computer, resetting your  Whirlpool Washer control panel can sometimes solve the issues you are experiencing.

To reset the washer's control panel:

  1. Disconnect from the power source for one minute.
  2. After one minute reconnect the washer to its power source.

If your washer is plugged into an outlet, simply unplug the unit for one minute and then plug the unit back in. If the washer is hard-wired to the power supply, turn the breaker off at the home electrical panel that powers the washer for one minute and then turn the breaker back on.

NOTE:  If your washer appears to have no power, no lights, etc. please verify that the Control Lock has not been activated. If the Control Lock is set, your control will not operate at all, and you may see a light or "Padlock" illuminated. Check the Owner's Manual for your model washer to learn how to deactivate the Control Lock.

Here is an example of a Front Load Washer control that has been locked.
