Not Cooling - Air Conditioner
Possible Solutions
NOTE: If the air conditioner is not powering on, please see the "Will Not Turn On" section of this troubleshooting guide.
Is the outside temperature too cold?
If the outside temperature is below 65°F (18°C) the air conditioner will not cool.
Are the controls set correctly?
Depending on the model, the Temp/Time or Temperature control may not be set to a cool enough setting. Adjust the TEMP/ TIME control to a cooler setting by pressing the minus button to reduce the temperature, or adjust the temperature control to a cooler setting by turning the knob clockwise. Set the Fan Speed control to Turbo or Turbo Cool.
Does the filter need to be cleaned?
The air filter is removable for easy cleaning. A clean filter helps remove dust, lint, and other particles from the air and is important for the best cooling and operating efficiency. Check the filter every 2 weeks to see whether it needs cleaning.
Do the condenser coils need to be cleaned?
If the outside condenser coils are dirty or obstructed by debris, it can cause the air conditioner to not operate efficiently. For instruction on how to clean the condenser coils see the “Annual Maintenance" section of the Owner's Manual.
Is the Power Saver mode turned on?
Use Power Saver only when you are asleep or away from home. The Power Saver mode (on some models) does not circulate the room air continuously,. Use Low, High or Turbo for your best comfort.
Are the vents blocked?
If the louvers or vent are blocked, the air conditioner may not cool the room properly. Install the air conditioner in a location where the louvers or vents are free from curtains, blinds, furniture, etc. Also, make sure the louvers or vents are in the open position.
Is the room temperature extremely hot?
If the temperature of the room you are trying to cool is extremely hot allow extra time for the air conditioner to cool off. If there is excessive heat or moisture (open container cooking, showers, etc.) in the room use a fan to exhaust heat or moisture from the room. Try not to use heat-producing appliances during the hottest part of the day.
Is the air conditioner the correct size for the room?
If the air conditioner is not properly sized for your room the air conditioner may not cool the room properly. Check the cooling capabilities of your room air conditioner. Room air conditioners are not designed to cool multiple rooms.
