Water Filter Status Light Won't Reset - Refrigerator
Possible Solutions
How to reset the water filter status light?
The water filter status needs to be reset whenever the water filter is replaced; it does not reset automatically. Resetting the water filter status light varies by model and refrigerator type, and it is recommended that you consult your Owner's Manual for the specific instructions for your model.
- Press and Hold "Freezer" and "Drawer" buttons for 3 seconds
When should you replace your water filter?
It is recommended that the water filter be replaced every 6 months, when the indicator light comes on, or as needed. A clogged or improperly installed water filter can reduce water flow to the ice maker and dispenser, resulting in small ice cubes, reduced ice production, and/or longer dispensing times. If the filter is clogged and you cannot replace it immediately, leave the filter out so the water system is in bypass mode. With the filter removed, the water system will continue to operate, bypassing the filter, and the clogged filter will not cause slow water dispensing or low ice production. However, to have filtered water, you will need to install a new filter.
NOTE: One or two drops of water may be visible immediately after dispensing, which is normal. It may be necessary to hold the container under the dispenser for 2 to 3 seconds after releasing the dispenser button.
