Making too Much Ice - Ice Maker is in Freezer - Top Freezer Refrigerator
Possible Solutions
Is the storage bin in the correct location?
NOTE: You may have a different type of ice maker in your refrigerator. If so, please see your Owner's Manual for specific instructions for your model.
Ice cubes are ejected into the ice storage bin, located under the ice maker. Your ice maker has an automatic shutoff. As ice is made, the ice cubes will fill the ice storage bin, and the ice cubes will raise the wire shutoff arm to the OFF (arm up) position.
Make sure the ice bin is directly below the ice maker. If the ice bin is not in the correct place, the shutoff arm will not work correctly, and the ice maker will continue to produce ice. Replace the freezer shelf to have the proper bin spacing.
How to turn the Ice Maker On/Off
To Turn On - To turn the ice maker on, lower the wire shutoff arm.
To Turn Off - To manually turn the ice maker off, lift the wire shutoff arm to the OFF (arm up) position and listen for the click to make sure the ice maker will not continue to operate.
NOTE: Turn the ice maker off before removing the ice storage bin to serve ice or to clean the container. This will keep the ice cubes from dropping out of the ice maker and into the freezer compartment. After replacing the ice storage bin, turn on the ice maker.
