Filter Light Blinking - Freestanding Ice Maker

Possible Solutions

Does the water filter need to be changed?

We recommend replacing the filter every 9 months or when the ice making rate starts to decrease.  The "Replace Filter" light only comes on after 9 months or 2000 gallons of water use. Customers with very hard water may need to replace their filters before these counts are reached.

Is your Water Filter branded Whirlpool or EveryDropTM?

Water Filters branded Whirlpool or EveryDropTM are Certified Genuine Parts (CGP). Please note that the use of a CGP filter is recommended for maximum refrigerator performance.

Is the filter installed correctly?

The "Replace Filter" light will continue to flash if the filter is not installed correctly. Ensure the filter is turned to the locked the position when replacing.  If the water filter is not installed correctly it could cause low ice production, no ice production, or thin/small ice cubes.

Is the water filter damaged?

Remove the filter and inspect it for cracks or damage. If the filter is cracked or damaged, replace the filter with a new one. A damaged water filter could cause low ice production, no ice production, or thin/small ice cubes.

Are the o-rings correctly installed on the filter?

Be sure the O-rings are still in place. If the O-rings are damaged or missing replace the filter. If the O-Rings are missing it could cause low ice production, no ice production, or thin/small ice cubes.

Be sure that the 2 O-rings are still in place with filter. If the O-rings are damaged or missing replace the filter.

Restart the Ice Maker

If the above troubleshooting has not been successful try restarting the Ice Maker.  If the Filter indicator remains on after restarting the Ice Maker, service will need to be scheduled.
