Making Too Much Ice - Double Drawer

Possible Solutions

Can you turn the ice maker off?

Use the Icemaker touchpad on the control panel to turn the ice maker on or off. Do not adjust the wire arm located on the ice maker. Press the ICEMAKER touchpad to turn on the ice maker. The indicator light will illuminate when On. Press the ICEMAKER touchpad to turn off the ice.

NOTE: Turn the ice maker off before removing the ice storage bin to serve ice or to clean the bin. This will keep the ice cubes from dropping out of the ice maker and into the freezer compartment. After replacing the ice storage bin, turn on the ice maker.

Additional Tips

  • Allow 24 hours to produce the first batch of ice.
  • The quality of your ice will only be as good as the quality of the water supplied to your ice maker.
  • When the refrigerator is turned ON for the first time, the ice maker is turned OFF. (The ice maker indicator light will dim).

Is the ice bin in the correct location?

Make sure the ice bin is directly below the ice maker. If the ice bin is not in the correct place, the shutoff arm will not work properly and the ice maker will continue to produce ice. If you have removed the shelf from the freezer there will be too much space between the ice maker and the ice bin. Replace the freezer shelf to have the correct bin spacing.

Are you storing anything other than ice in the bin?

Storing anything other than the ice produced by the ice maker can cause damage to the shutoff arm and/or internal mechanisms in the ice maker module. This damage could cause the ice maker to over produce ice.

NOTE: This also includes adding or storing bagged ice in the ice bin.
