Cleaning the Filter - Portable Dishwasher

Possible Solutions

Basic Dishwasher Filter Information

Dishwashers are meant to wash and clean your dishes.

  • With that in mind, you do not need to hand wash your dishes before placing them in the dishwasher.
  • If dishes are cleaned prior to dishwasher use, over time, the detergent can cause a white etching on your dishes. This etching is permanent and cannot be removed.
  • Remove residue from detergents by cleaning the interior once a month.
  • See symptoms for "Cleaning the Interior" listed above.

The best way to prepare your dishes for the dishwasher:

  • Is to scrape large food particles off your dishes. Then load the dishes into the dishwasher.
  • If you do not have a full load, or you do not want to run it immediately, run a "Rinse and Hold" or "Rinse Only" cycle (on some models) on your dishwasher (without detergent).
  • This keeps the dishes moist and eliminates odor build-up. Run this cycle every 24 hours until you have a full load, and then run a complete cycle.

Cleaning the Filter

  1. Turn the upper filter assembly ¼ turn counterclockwise and lift out.
  2. Separate the upper filter assembly by gently pulling apart.
  3. Rinse filter under running water until most soils are removed. If you have hard-to-remove soils or calcium deposits from hard water, a soft brush may be required.
  4. Reinstall the filter.
