Not Turning, Tumbling, or Spinning - Front Load Washer

Possible Solutions

Was Low or No Spin selected?

Cycles with lower spin speeds remove less water than cycles with high spin speeds. Use the recommended cycle/speed spin for your garment. If Low Spin or No Spin was selected, the washer might not remove enough water from the load. To remove extra water in the load, select the "Drain & Spin" cycle. The load may need to be rearranged to allow even distribution of the weight in the basket.

NOTE: Cycle settings are remembered from the last time that cycle is run and will be recalled when that cycle is selected again. Example: If a "Heavy Duty" cycle was chosen without spin, the next time that cycle is selected, the spin will be disabled.

Was a "Delicate" or "Hand Wash" Selected?

Spin speeds can vary by the cycle selected. Your washer is designed that in specific cycles, such as Delicate or Hand Washables cycles, the spin speeds are slower. In these cycles, more water is retained in the load at the end of the cycle to keep delicate fabrics from shrinking and wrinkling.

Do you use High Efficiency (HE) detergent?

Use only HE High-Efficiency detergent. Always measure detergent. If you have very soft water, you may need to use less detergent. Using non-HE detergent or more than the manufacturer's recommended amount of soap can cause excessive suds. The excess suds can cause the washer to run at a reduced spin speed, resulting in very wet loads.

Was only a single bulky item washed?

Consider adding more items to help balance the load during the spin.

Is the washer overloaded?

The wash load must be balanced and not tightly packed. A large unbalanced load could result in a reduced spin speed, longer cycle times, and possibly wet clothes at the end of the cycle. Washing single items can be challenging to balance, resulting in extended cycle time. Wash multiple items rather than individual items to improve the ability to balance the load for the spin cycle.

How to level the washer:

The washer must be level.  If not, the load may become unbalanced, causing the machine not to spin correctly.  This can also cause the appliance to have excessive noise and/or vibration, especially during the Spin cycle.

Is the drain hose installed correctly?

Check drain hose for proper installation.  Use the U-shaped drain hose form on the drain hose and securely attach to drainpipe (standpipe) or tub.  Check that only 4.5" (113 mm) of the drain hose is in the drainpipe (standpipe).  The drainpipe (standpipe) height requirements are 96" (244 cm) maximum and 39" (99 cm) minimum.  Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or clogged.
