Rattling or Tapping Noise - Front Load Washer

Possible Solutions

Rattling, Banging or Tapping Noises:

The drain hose or water inlet hoses may be knocking against the rear of the washer cabinet. Secure the hoses using the beaded strap supplied with the washer (on some models), or use a wire tie. The vibration of the washer can be carried through to the hoses. Also, as water is pushed through the hoses, it can cause the hoses to move. If the hoses have enough space to hit the cabinet, a knocking noise will be heard.

Also verify that no other items are leaning against the washer, such as everyday household items. Brooms, dustpans, dryer racks, or hangers can make rattling noises if they are leaning against the washer, especially during high spin speeds. Always check around the outside of your washer before use for items that may cause noise.

Is the washer level?

Non-Pedestal Installation

When the washer is not on a pedestal, all four washer feet need to be in firm contact with the floor. Try to rock the washer diagonally, from corner to corner, with your hands; adjust the feet if the washer teeters. The lock nuts on all four of the feet should be tightened against the washer cabinet.

Pedestal Installation

When the washer is on a pedestal, the feet must be removed from the washer before installing it onto the pedestal. The black pedestal pads should be securely placed between the top of the pedestal and the washer.
